ClearVue Launches Helios Solar Carpark

ClearVue-Helios panels become the carport rooftop resulting in a lightweight, lower cost and embedded carbon solution that delivers up to 590 Watts peak per panel of renewable energy generation along with a modern carpark design.

As part of the redevelopment of the World Bank's Administration Building in Abuja, ClearVue supplied its solar skylight technology to help transform the building envelope into a source of renewable energy. The project marks a significant milestone as ClearVue's first commercial project in Africa and the debut installation of its Solar Skylight product.

Designed by Manning Architects and delivered by Venco Imtiaz Construction Company, the building has been conceived as a showcase for sustainable commercial design. Targeting LEED Gold, WELL and EDGE certifications, the project demonstrates how integrated renewable technologies can contribute to ambitious environmental performance without compromising architectural intent.

Rather than treating renewable energy as an addition,
we wanted it to become part of the architecture itself. Integrating solar skylights allowed us to maximise daylight while contributing to the building's long-term sustainability goals.

Brian Reading, Lead Architect

A total of 96 photovoltaic solar skylights have been integrated into the roof, generating approximately 37,800 kWh of renewable electricity each year while continuing to provide natural daylight to the building's interior. By embedding solar technology directly into the skylights, the project eliminates the need for conventional rooftop panels while making productive use of the building envelope.

The installation demonstrates the flexibility of Building Integrated Photovoltaics (BIPV) within large-scale commercial developments. Rather than treating renewable energy as an added component, the skylights perform as both a functional architectural element and an energy-generating asset, supporting the building's long-term operational efficiency and carbon reduction goals.

As ClearVue's first commercial deployment in Africa, the World Bank Headquarters represents an important step in the global adoption of solar façade technologies. It highlights how high-performance buildings can integrate renewable energy into everyday building materials, setting a benchmark for future sustainable developments across the region.
